Former Chaldean bishop, who was visiting Georgia with a group of Chaldean bishops from Iraq and around the world to meet up with Pope Francis, has suddenly died in his hotel in the Georgia capital. Cause is a severe internal bleeding. He was 77. He retired from his position in 2014 but was active in other aspects of the church. In fact he was part of the delegation that took part in the recently concluded Chaldean Synod in Ankawa, Iraq.

Here is the press release in Arabic from the Chaldean church website

Rest in peace!

p.s: in the second picture, he is directly to the left of the Patriarch HH Luis Sako.

I thought it was suspicious at first, reading that he died in a hotel. But when it said that he was 77 then it seemed understandable (old-age illness and such).
