If the Maple Leafs decide to trade Ed Belfour, the Toronto Star claims the veteran goaltender would waive his no trade clause.
According to the Star, Belfour would accept a trade if the team that acquires him picks up the final year of his contract.
"I don't want to be anywhere where I'm not wanted," Belfour told the Star. "I want to be where I'm wanted."
The Star suggests that the Leafs may seriously entertain the idea of dealing the star netminder, with the Edmonton Oilers being the most interested club.
Belfour did not officially confirm that he would waive his no-trade clause, but it's believed the Leafs will not pick up his $4.5 million option next season. If that's the case, the Leafs must give Belfour a $1.5 million buyout, which would against next year's salary cap.
