Becoming a Deacon in the Church of the East

I am the last person to be answering your question, as I am not a deacon and hardly attend Church regularly, although I am a very religious and prayerful person, and perhaps I should be asking this question likewise, but I think the only thing is that the Qasha has to attest that you are worthy of this, and you have to have lead a morally clean life. I would thinking knowledge of the Assyrians language, perhaps the script also, are very helpful. The time frame must involve when the Bishop visits your town again.

I'm also not an expert on this, but I know a man (whom I will not name) who was a total clubber a decade ago, wore earrings, dyed his hair - he wasn't a 'bad' guy, just an outgoing type, but law-abiding anyway.

Around like 8 years later, he came a beacon, got married and now, 5 years later he is a priest!

So I believe, anyone can become a priest, let alone a beacon.

The only thing I will ask is in which city was this guy and where is he now a Priest? Thanks.
Sydney.

That's all I can say without being too obvious. Assyrians can easily know other Assyrians.
