I don't know why, but I am already struggling this year, but there is only half hour left (it is till 12 PM) But there is still no meat or dairy products. I know I will miss coffee, but it is only three days come on.

As Assyrians, we should be really really really proud of this day(s): it showed us that God really loves us.

I know, it is my fault, cuz I didn't eat anything almost all of yesterday evening. So it has been close to 15 hours with only water yesterday before I slept....

Don't worry Ashoor only 3 mins left. I just had a tea now but im still fasting and i had to have my tea im so sick so i need it. I don't have lunch til 1pm so im good as far as food.
 
my mom is forcing my brother to do it this year and he almost ate my takhrathae't soma that my mom packed me for lunch for school  :ban:

he was complaining all morning that there is nothing to eat.. oiii


i've never tried going for 3 days no water, no food but i can't handlee going to class and to the lab and being hungryyy  :baby:
 
over here we eat but no meat and diary...didnt know its different over there...mummy made me yummy marchanoos (kinda like mashed potatoe but with like herbs and stuff) love it with chai saada
 
Some people don't eat or drink anything until  lunch (12pm ) so no breakfest..and after 12pm you are not allowed to eat no meat or diary products.

Im only not eating meat and diary products i can't not eat breakfest.
 
i can go without eating breakfast.. cuz i never do anyways.. but never no meat or dairy.. i'd die... and even if its only 3 days.. i cant do it! :blush2:
 
I never fast and especially this fast because lets face it most people do it for the " who will you see in your dream" not for religious reasons.

I never even heard of this until on read it here..my mom has never mentioned that to me. Do people actually believe in this?

Oh yes i know many girls who do it simply to see thier " future husband", you put the pokheen in your mouth and are not supposed to drink water at all that night, so naturally you are thirsty ( because the mixture is full of salt and flour i think) during the night and whoever gives you water in your dream is your man...
 
this fast is not supposed to be for the dream thing though.. it has a great meaning but again, stupid village myths  :ban:

cause it's stupid  if people fast and they don't know why they do it and only to see their dream man/women  :bangin: :bangin:


i only fast for real and have for years for christmas and easter cause i know what the point of it it is

i think this thread is getting out of hand the soma like ashoor said was done for a reminder to all assyrians that God chose to help us find him and in believing in ONE God. the myth of the husband thing is just a village myth.
all this bashing about the reason people are doing the soma and what not is rediculous at least they are fasting and know it's for God.
 
im not fasting to see who will be my furute husband, i just do that for a laugh like i know many people do...and i didnt think you had to fast in order to do it...like assyrian bookta said, its just a myth, for some people it has happenedbut for most its just a little thing they do for fun, for me it has nothing to do with me fasting!
 
I thought the somaa relates to when God sent Jona to warn the Assyrians to stop committing all their sins (he didn't want to and that's when the whale got him)....anyways when he told the Assyrians, everyone, including the King wore non-Royal clothing and fasted for 3 days.

Am I wrong?
