The Iraqi army has almost reached the grand mosque where al Baghdadi declared a caliphate nearly 3 years ago.
Hundreds of civilians have died from airstrikes. I don't know why they are doing airstrikes in a densely populated civilian area, it seems like a terrible idea.
It sounds like these people were happier under ISIS.

Do you honestly think we care about the US killing Sunni Muslims in Mosul with airstrikes?  The only political parties that don't support Assyrian independence is the Sunni political parties in Northern Iraq.

They are in our way of independence, let the USA do the dirty work.

This mentality is really dangerous. It will make them to instict us from the entire M.E.
Let us rather hope a peacful Musol, so our people in the refugees camps may return home one day.

Don't give sympathy but you shouldn't gloat when civilians are killed. Now some may be extremist Muslims in the making, but there exist innocent civilians who don't deserve to die. Heck, maybe a few of them are Christians or even closeted atheists, if that makes you feel better.

Not all Iraqis mindlessly adhere to Islam. You can't expect a city to be 100% Muslim. Even Mecca has closeted non-Muslims. -_-

According to most sources they're in control over most of Mosul now but that the western part of the city is the most densely populated and will be the toughest to retake.

But I get a bad feeling that these different groups doing the fighting ultimately won't find a lasting solution. It's not just about beating Isis it's about permanent stability. With that along with the fact that any non-sunni who may return later may never feel safe there again with the back stabbers.
