I am starting to like Sonia Odisho more and more everyday. Recently, I discovered a new song by her which I think is nothing short of amazing.

'Baghdad'

Listen to it here and enjoy the words and the music. Simply amazing. Actually if I have time I will try to provide the lyrics here and translate them into English.

And the fact that I was born and lived in Baghdad makes me appreciate this song even more....

This is a beautifully constructed song. But I think it needed an artist with a powerful range behind it, like Linda George. If not her then Vera.

Sonia is alright singer. Definitely better than some others. I've been to one of her concerts.

I agree that Linda George would be the best to sing such a great song but I think Sonia's performance is to be admired as well.

You said you went to one of her concerts. Was it really a concert, where people sit in a theater-like setting and there is no dancing? what was it like and was she by herself or other singers performing too?

Oh, my mistake, it was actually a party in a reception. Yes, people danced, like how they would in a wedding. Another singer performed with her. He came from the USA -- I forgot his name though (he wasn't Ramsen Sheeno btw).

Anyway, I think Sonia is suited to "khigga-ish", upbeat type of songs. That's when I tend to enjoy her the most.
