We literally grew up to his music. I thought he'd live for a long time considering his healthy lifestyle.

I heard about his cancer in July and I knew straight away that it was a death sentence. He was probably diagnosed with the cancer (glioblastoma) earlier in the year, but he did not want to be open about it (which is fair enough).

While he lived to a good age, given how he has been with us, and in every Assyrian home for decades, I thought he left us too soon. His voice was still relatively good for his age, and could have easily gone to 85 years old, which is quiet a feat if you think about it.

Are you ready to be shocked about something? Sad to say, but I have never had the pleasure of seeing him in person, whether a a wedding, personal encounter, or a party and I feel bad about that :/

I took a photo of him only with my family and he smiled at the camera. We just nodded. That's as close to him as I've been. :(

He's met my parents, sat with them for tea at my relatives house back in 2012. But I wasn't there. 😞
