Assyrian Wedding Video

Hey everyone! I just wanted to share something with all of you that I thought was really awesome. I tried checking out You Tube and just typed the word ?Assyrian? under search, and I came across an Assyrian wedding in Germany :wavetowel: To my surprise, the singer was Ivan Petros, and he sang the song that I have been looking for all over the Internet. However, I am not sure of the title of the song, so it is impossible to find it.

Thankfully this website has it on their music section.

I think myself, along with my parents have watched it several dozens of times. The dancing is very similar to our (Macedonian) style. It is a great video.

Just thought I?d give you guys a link so that you can enjoy it as much as I did. My favorite part is towards the end when the older man with the grey suit comes in and basically lets the younger guys know this is how it's done . . . LEGENDARY!

The link is below!

Ivan Petrus now lives in Toronto, Canada, and I have his live coctail album. Great selection of songs.

That was great -- thanks for sharing!  I love that first song, and the singer was really good.

yea choochoo is right thats firas, and not feras al-senaty, this is another firas lol

plus mako what song you looking for? the one he sings in the beginning or you just want the whole track? cause he sings like 3-4 diff songs but its all the same dance

plus i noticed in europe when they do bageeyeh or sheikhani yaqoora whatever you wanna call it, they dont do the 2 stomp thing that we do here in the states...is that a move that was made up in chicago? lol

I noticed that and was getting a little aggravated by it!  It was like, "You're doing it wrong!  Stomp, damn it, stomp!"  :bangin:

the singer is Firas he used to live in sweden thats not Ivan

ChooChoo - Thanks for clearing that up. I heard Ivan Petros' version probably back in the spring time, Cocktail #2 on the music section of this site, and thought it was him. The singer kind of resembled Petros, but with longer hair.

KhIgGaAaAaAa - The song I have been looking for, probably the entire spring and summer is the first part of it, since he goes into 3-4 different songs, like you said.  It is the same song as in Cocktail #2 on Petros' album. If I can find it, that will be great! All I know is that I probably have listened to the Cocktail #2 song over a hundred times, and have watched this Assyrian wedding video with my folks several times.

It is just such a nice wedding, and I am glad I got a chance to find it.

Thanks for the replies!

The song is Hakkari,  and I can upload it for you if you want it.  Let me know.
By the way, its a bad a$$ song.  Reminds me of Sheemal every time I listen to it.  It should be our national anthem :)

Hey! Thanks for all of the help. The video is just amazing, so is the song. Although I don't understand most of the lyrics, I love the beat. Do the lyrics talk about the mother and father going somewhere or doing something? I am pretty sure he says mom and dad in Assyrian in the song.

I also wanted to give a special thanks to KhIgGaAaAaAa giving me a few sites with different versions of the song. But, if you don't mind, can you upload it? . . . I can never have too many versions. I just want to make this custom Assyrian CD with all of these songs, and this one will be track #1.

Again, thanks to everyone for being so amazing! Ever since I joined Assyrian Voice, and not even being Assyrian, I just felt at home. You guys are great!

Are you guys talking about the first song? Sargon Gabrael's song?

KhiGhaaa, you don't have to do 2 stomp in every shekhanee song, there are certain songs have different steps.

Here is one version of it:

enjoy.

The lyrics do refer to his parents, as he describes where they are from.  I'll translate more later when I have more time.

lovemoon my name is khigga, how dare you have the audacity to come in here and tell me how to dance a sheikhani yaqoora!!! nekhpetwa, leeshanukh yarikhthela huh, b'maghzinekh!

and the original, which i think is the better version, was sung by melis ishaya, sargon and avadis and it came out on melis' last album in 2003.

I think that's the one I uploaded.  I know there are three different singers.  Let me know if there is a better version.  Uploaded if you do have it though.
Thanks.
