Assyrian man shot dead in Sydney (yet again)

Western society is heavily materialistic. We have become slaves for consumerism. What it also boils down to is the acceptance that they get when they join a gang. Since these young men obviously never had strong male figures in their lives, they go to the streets and seek out acceptance from other men. So when they join gangs not only are they belonging somewhere, they also fill their egos with money and attention/respect that they crave.

"Strong male figures in their lives" LOL wtf.

It's more to do with the lifestyle they want to live. They want to be feared and they want to make money the wrong way, to live a luxurious lifestyle.

And their fathers are cowards. Very rarely do you see a gang member come from a proper family.

To be fair, she is right. If you have a distant father or one that emasculates you, you would more likely to join gangs in spite of him, to show how "manly" you are. If you grew close to your father where you'd do activities with him, you're least likely to join gangs. Of course, I'm NOT saying every guy with a distant father is a future criminal. But it's just more likely to happen. Heck, I'm not even that close to my dad (in some days), and I know that I won't be joining gangs. ;)

Exactly. The environment of how a child grows up is crucial in how they're going to act. Anyone can put a seed in the ground, but you need to water the plant each day, if you don't then it cannot survive.

Yep. A father of a guy who joined a gang was rather metrosexual and vain. He reminded me of Bruce Jenner. He liked guy things now, but he was into theatrics and the arts. But I don't know if that's a reason for his son to turn into gangs. Lol.

hmmm well he might've joined that gang as a coping mechanism, because of the lack of ''manliness'' that he saw in his father. Not that there is anything girly about the arts/theatre but our culture does associate these hobbies with women.

Not just in our culture. Many men in the theater turn out to be gay or are effeminate straight men. You'd also find more gay male entertainers than say, gay male sports players.

Yeah I've noticed that, do you know why? I understand not playing sports, but what makes the arts/theatre feminine?

Not sure. Maybe when you act you self-indulge a lot, you deal with your emotions or with your "feminine side". It's so strange how this can somehow relate to preferring other men. Research should be done on this. Lol.

Btw, my dad is a theatrical actor and he's as straight as they come. So maybe it's a stereotype.

Yes I'd love to see a study on something like that, it's fascinating!

Oh cool, has he been on the Assyrian comedies/dramas?

Yeah, in the 90s and early 2000s in Iraq. :)
