will the ACOE decide on a new patriach soon?

Hi barcyy,

Yes, they will be meeting on the 16th of this month to elect the new Patriarch. We will know either on that day or the day after. The official ceremony is to be held on the 27th.

Hope that helps

And I'm giving my opinion you closeminded, retrograded bastard.

Your question was stupid anyway. So don't expect a bright answer, idiot.

Both of you guys bassa or I'll slap both of you on the ass of your ears :)

He's the one with the attitude really, he starts it (go look at the other threads)...

I can't believe that he has a wife. This would mean that he is a man in his 30s, I take it. I thought he was a 14 year old - He's rather immature for a married man.

Seriously dude, whenever I say something and see his name below my post, it's always quoting me and his replies are usually something nasty or negative. Same thing with "AssyrianMan". It's like these two were intentionally brought here to pester me. They don't know what opinions and personal interpretations are. They want people to share their views on things. And wouldn't this forum be boring if we all had the same views?

In the past few days I really couldn't stand their aggressiveness towards me so I started to get my cursing happy and gave them all I got. They argue to the point where they hate you and insult you. If you don't share their opinion, you're either a fool or retarded. At least, when I argue with you, you don't debase yourself to their level and you still seem lighthearted, unlike them.

Even if he's the one with the attitude, you're making it worse...

nobody is telling you to have the same views but to have views that aren't detrimental.

You say things like "Turoyo isn't a dialect, it's a language on its own".

When you said that, I thought you didn't think through what you're saying...

it's not about having the same opinion or view. It's about the reason for having the opinion or view.

You think I have my opinions and views because I feel like it? No, it's because I view/opinionate what I believe is right.

You calling turoyo a separate language is very wrong because it's not. I'm not bringing it up but I'm using it as an example.

many of us have differing opinions like "working with the Kurds is needed" and "working with the Kurds is a bad idea"

nobody is hating each other over those because we're working out what's the best decision.

You're throwing views and opinions that we already know aren't the best decisions...

For one, the ACEO needs a patriarch in order to keep its structure from falling apart...

You can't say "we dont need a patriarka" especially without a new system that'll replace it.

Look, my views ARE strong and controversial. I get it.

About the Turoyo thing, it's more of an interpretation than an "opinion" per se. I did say that some sources/articles consider it a dialect and others say it's a full fledged language on its own. People do argue over linguistics - For instance, the Scots language and whether it's an English dialect or a language of its own. I don't see how it's "detrimental", at least I'm not denying a language.

Now that's putting words in my mouth. I can say whatever I want when it comes to the patriarchs and whatnot. And it's not like they'll listen to me anyway? What happened to freedom of speech btw?

"Freedom of speech is the right to communicate one's opinions and ideas without fear of government retaliation or censorship."

If you're going to pull up an opinion or idea, at least give the reasoning behind it or else it makes you look foolish...

of course nobody will listen to you because your opinion about our patriarchs is a dumb idea that'll hurl us into an even darker age.

Our Bishops and Patriarch, despite having no knowledge or experience in politics and organizations, are the only stable leaders we have until a worthy successor rises to the occasion...

That's totally BS! We are NOT ruled by them, as you seem to make them out to be. People protest the law and censorship and nothing happens to them, and you're telling me that something bad will happen if I were to "mock" our patriarchs? Please...don't go there...

Ironically, what you wrote up there is a retrograded, "dark age" mindset.

We don't have to live by the church. We shouldn't have live by the church. We are no less or more Assyrian if we have patriarchs or not.

We are ruled by the law of the land (country we live in) and the law of our religion (the church)

Give unto Caesars what is caesars and give unto God what is Gods...

Assyrians have no secular leadership that is taken seriously...

The only Assyrians that are really taken seriously by who to follow is our church leaders...

This NEEDS to be replaced by a secular Assyrian leadership though.

We could easily make a good secular government to replace our churches by only taking in representatives from every Assyrian community across the globe.

To weed out our older generations who have done nothing but divide us, I propose that only Assyrians born between the 80s and 2000s may join the secular government and represent their respective country's Assyrian community.

If only you had phrased your last post that way I would've understood and agreed with you. You're actually correct here and I can see the point you're making.

A lot of disrespectful comments in what should be a very important thread. I have deleted some and will lock this and start a new thread. Without singling anyone out, if you guys continue this, you will get a warning, following by suspension.
