Assyrian Children Given To Muslim Foster Family

The article is in Swedish and the translation is a bit iffy, but basically two Assyrian children were handed to an Arabic Muslim foster family because their Assyrian aunt 'couldn't provide a suitable home'. The mother of the children expresses her concerns and feels as if the Muslim family has ulterior motives and is indoctrinating her children into the Muslim faith and contributing to their loss of Assyrian identity. Additionally, the mother has obtained legal representation (I believe the lawyer is an Assyrian female) and they both believe that this is a breach of constitutional and humanitarian rights. The following are some harrowing excerpts from that article:

''''Why do not you want your children to live in a Muslim family?''

- We became victims of Muslims in our country, that's why we came to Sweden, to get a better future.''

''To date Nenwa says that the children have said they now worship Allah and that they have learned the Muslim confession of faith in Arabic. Moreover, she says that the 6-year old son told me that he and the 4-year-old sister may not worship "their God" - and that they have been deprived of their cross as they used to have that necklace.''

''According to Chapter 6. ? 1 of the Social Services Act should be the care of a foster child placed designed to promote the child's affinity with family members and other relatives and contact with the home environment. The preparatory works emphasized that this means both geographical proximity as consideration for the child's linguistic and cultural background.''

''The Ombudsman has also in several cases held that a placement of a child should have as a basis for the child to keep in touch with their cultural origin.

"In the case of children of foreign origin is often of particular importance for the child's ability to develop in a positive way" ... "In the first instance, seek to place in a home with the same cultural, ethnic and linguistic background as the child, "''

''Attorney Kinora Awrohum representing Nenwa. She believes that children's current position not only jeopardizes children's religious beliefs without children also become alien to their native language and they feel insecure in their ethnicity as Assyrians.''

Frankly, this is disgusting but I expected nothing less from Sweden. Apparently the mother's visitation is also limited, I pray for her and the children.

this doesn't sound very believable, how could Sweden allow something like this to happen?

Is this the only news site talking about this issue?

How did these foster kids end up with Muslims? Islamic law frowns on adoption. It's not against it but frowns on it.

It was the only one linked to me. Additionally, God knows for what sinister reason they did this, maybe to contribute to the loss of Assyrian identity. Either way, I hope the mother receives deserved justice. Poor children.

There was no other outcome, it should have been obvious from the start what would happen once those mohammedans got their hands on them. This is almost like having your children murdered, to be quite frank. Hopefully this can be undone.

There are very few outcomes for foster children when it comes to religious identity in a new home.
First outcome, if the family is religiously Christian, chances are, they will be subjected to it and grow up in it. Same with Judaism and Islam, or any other religion for the sake of arguments (even atheists). A family that practises religions are going to include these children in their religion, otherwise it would be pretty awkward to separate them. May even lower their self-esteem.

Another outcome is to be handed over to a judicious family, given instructions and being informed of the children's previous religion and traditions. I like this kind of mixed families where they celebrate both traditions so nobody forgets their roots. Eh, kinda debatable the results of doing this is... but at least this lets the children decide.

Also, how could this happen in Sweden? Why didn't they give the kid to another Assyrian family?

Sweden's so absolutely fucked, they don't care. If I had an established family, home, etc.. I'd take the children in myself.

Sweden is too politically correct to care about this. They believe they did the most appropriate thing. It shouldn't be so surprising, really.
