A New Blood Bath - Peshmerga VS PMU in Kirkuk

Iraqi Army and PMU Shia Militias gave Peshmerga till midnight to give Kirkuk to the Iraqi government, Peshmerga declined the army causing both sides to go full force. This has been happening in the past 24 hours.
 
Just reading breaking news now that Iraqi forces have started to attack. Not sure about the details. But I hope war is averted. Iraq has had enough fighting. But Kurds better come to their senses and give up on their stupid demand for Kirkuk. Being too greedy will end up costing you too much.

Not should the Kurds want to mess with the fearful and powerful Popular Mobilization Forces who crushed ISIS which even the Iraqi army had failed to do in the past.

Even Saddam took longer to defeat the Kurds. This battle barely lasted a few hours. The PMU is too powerful for the Peshmarga. It is not the peshamarga of the past. This is a new generation that hasn't been tested like the old elements were, so not surprised they didn't put up a fight. And good for the Kurdish generals for retreating and not causing any casualties, not worth the fight.

Interestingly enough ASHOOR, there's a video on why Arab armies aren't very effective. Saddam's military wasn't effective because having your military too strong would've just ousted him then. To a dictator, the military is more or less an internal security force than an actual force.
 
I am not surprised MrZ. Though the Iraqi army put up a great fight against a bigger Iranian army for 8 years.

here's the video

in a nutshell:

1. poor unit cohesion.
2. poor generals and their cronyism + corruption such as giving rankings based on loyalty than merit. This is was one reason why the initial Iraqi army ran from ISIS.
3. military is more politicized than militarized - Israel even structured its own military to take advantage of these listed weaknesses.
4. poor management of intel because of selfishness - When Arab officers know of certain information, they keep it to themselves to make themselves more valuable.
5. poor equipment training - Because most Islamic countries teach and train by using rote memorization instead of actual training.

While I am happy the Iraqi army is taking over these lands from the Kurds, I don't know how I feel about the PMU taking over the Nineveh Plain, having seen what they have done to other Sunni areas they took on their way to Mosul: they like to Shi'ify the area and come out with their Ali and Hussein chanting parades.

That is why the NP should be in Assyrian hands, with protection from the Iraqi army. Period.

Most of the Nineveh Plains is under the NPU though.
