So who are the Assyrians?

Assyrians are a Semitic people, and the direct descendants and successors of the ancient Assyrian empire. The Assyrians inhabited, and are indigenous to Mesopotamia (the land between the two rivers: Tigris and Euphrates)

The land known as Assyria, is geographically and roughly located in a triangle whose corners are made up of: northern Iraq, northwestern Iran, southeaster Turkey and northeastern Syria. Nineveh, currently located in Northern Iraq, was the capital of the ancient Assyrian empire. The ancient Assyrian empire fell in 612 BC .
