Q: What
is it?
A: Assyrian Text Chat, one of our most popular sections, is a place where
you can chat in text to other users from all around the world; live!
Q: Do I
need to register to be able to chat?
A: The system allows you to do both: chat with a registered name or chat with
any name you like without registering. If you really want your name to be
used only by yourself, then it is best to register it. Also, if you try to use a
name that has been registerd, then you will be asked to provide the password for
it, otherwise, you won't be able to use it.
Q: Ok,
how do I register my nickname so no one else can use it?
A: Under the chat box, there is a link to Register/Update your user name.
Q: What
special software do I need to use the chat?
A: To use the chat, all you need is the JAVA plug-in, which is often loaded as
part of the Windows OS. If you don't have it, you may download it from
here.
Q: When
I go to the chat, all I see is a grey box, nothing else loads. What should I do?
A: This means that you don't have the JAVA plug-in loaded or installed. It could
also mean a corrupted version of the plug-in. Simply restart your computer or
reinstall the plug-in.
Q: A
user is being abusive and annoying. What can I do about them?
A: you may either put them on ignore (by selecting their name and clicking the
Ignore button), or talk to them in a nice way and have them stop. If all else
fail, you may wish to file an abuse report
here.
Q: I
filed an abuse report, and the problem still exists: what can I do?
A: If nothing has been done, chances are, that an action has already been taken
without your realizing it. Or it could be that our administrators are already
gathering the required information to take the necessary action against the
offending party.
Q: I was
banned from the chat. How and when will I be back?
A: It depends on what your offence was. It could be from a few minutes, few
hours or possibly weeks. The idea is to isolate the unwanted, so that the chat
may remain clean of any trouble.
Q: I
apologize for my actions, and I wish my ban term to be reduced.
A: Assyrian Voice appreciates any good will by any user with a previous bad
offence or behavior and is always willing to welcome any good members back.
Q: What
are the "Terms of Use"
and do I need to read them?
A: These are the guidelines to the use of the website and the chat. It is best
to read them so you know what is allowed and what is not, on the website. Often,
an administrator will refer to these rules when making a case against any
misbehaving individual on the chat.
Q: I
still have more questions about the chat, and its use. Where can I find more
help?
A: You may get more help, especially technical help, from
here.
Q: What
is it?
A: Assyrian Voice Forums or Discussion Forums, lets you talk and discuss
different topics with other people from around the world. You can talk about
sports, politics, music or anything in general. You can either start a new
topic, or reply to existing topics by other users.
Q: Do I
have to register in order to use the forums?
A: Yes. You need to register in order to both view the topics and to post your
own topics and replies.
Q: How
do I register?
A: Look on the top of the forum, and in the menu, you will see "Register..."
Registration takes less than a minute.
Q: I
have registered, but I still can't post, and is telling me that my account is
still not activated. What should I do?
A: This could due to the fact that you never opened or clicked on an email
that was sent to you by our forums. You need to open it and activate the link.
If you beleive you have already done that, then
email us and let us know what your
user name is, and we will solve it.
Q: How
do I post a topic or reply to a topic?
A: After you log in, simply click on the "New Topic" or "Reply" button.
Q: Why
do I sometimes have to double login?
This is an issue with the forum software, and we continue to work on it to
fix it.
Q: I log
in, browse the forums for a few minutes and leave. When I come back, I have to
rel-login again. Why is that?
A: this is because your session is expiring. Simply check the box under the
login box, so that you can remained logged in.
Q: I
don't want people to know that I am on the forums. How can I hide myself?
A: Log in, then go to your profile. Scroll down to "Hide your online status"
and click on Yes.
Q: How
do I add a personal picture to show under my name?
A: this is what we call an avatar. You can get your own, using your profile.
Only one image can be displayed at a time, its width can be no greater than 125
pixels, the height no greater than 150 pixels, and the file size no more than 49
KB. If you need more help with this, you may email us or ask another
member on the forums.
Q: What
about my signature? how can edit or change that?
A: That too can be changed by logging to your account, then your profile, and
scrolling down to "Signature". It is best and recommended that you have a short
and meaningful signature rather than a long one.
Q: Can I
delete or edit my own topics and posts?
A: Yes. You can always go back to your topic and edit or delete them.
However, only an administrators or moderator can delete other messages.
Q: What
is with all these post counts and rankings?
A: Post count keeps track of the number of the posts you have made since
joining. While ranking is a special system that assigns users a unique status
based on how many posts they have had. The more posts, the more advanced
the ranking.
Q: What
are Assyros?
A: Assyros, is the name of the currency used in our virtual cash system,
which rewards users for their posts. That is, for each post or reply your make,
Assyrian Voice rewards you a certain number of Assyros.
Q: What
can I do with these Assyros?
A: These Assyros are just for fun, although lately, we have started to cash
some of them into real dollars. Ask us for more details.
Q: I still
have more questions. Where can I get more help?
A: You may email us, or
look at this page
for more help.
Q: What
is it?
A: The message board, much like the forums, are a place where people can
talk and discuss things. However, certain differences exist which we
explain below.
Q:
What is the main difference between the message board and the forums?
A: The main difference lies in the format of the two sections. The message
board, unlike the forums, is less organized and doesn't require you to register
in order to post or view topic. Moreover, the message board is used when
you want to send a short message or greeting quickly, without the need to format
your post. Another different lies in the way you see the replies to a
topic. While you can see all replies to a certain topic in the forums, with a
message board, you have to click on every single post to read it, which of
course, is more time-consuming. And finally, when someone replies to a certain
topic on the forum, that topic is pushed to the top again. With the message
board, that is not the case and older threads are always below the newer topics.
Q: Under
the name of the poster and the date, there is a a number, composed of 4 parts,
like this: 233.190.233.111. What is this?
A: This is the IP number, or the computer address, which is used sometimes
to prevent any fraud or board abuse.
Q: What
is the "Optional Link URL:" field?
A: When posting a new message or reply, use this field to post a Link
address to a website which you want people to see/visit.
Q: What
is the "Optional Link Title:" field?
A: Related to what we said above, this is another field that you may fill, if
you want to provide a certain web address for people to check out. This
will act as the title for the web address. For example, if you specified that
you want people to visit www.Google.com,
then your Link Title would be something like "Visit Google to search..."
Q: What
is the "Optional Image URL: " field?
A: Use this, if you want to include a picture in your post/reply. Note that, in
order to use this feature, the picture you want to show, hast to be hosted
online somewhere. You can't use this for pictures stored in your computer.
To find a picture's URL, in Internet Explorer, right click on a picture, select
"Properties" and then copy the URL from the window that comes up.
Q: What
is the "Preview" button used for?
A: The Preview button helps you see how your post will look like before you
post it. This is used to make sure that your message will come out the way you
want it to. More like a check for errors or mistakes in your language and
writing.
Q: Can I
edit or delete my own messages on the Message Board?
A: Unlike the forums, the message board doesn't allow you to edit or delete
your messages. Only the administrator can do that.
Q: I
have been banned from the message board for no reason, please explain?
A: We never ban anyone for no reason, unless it was by mistake.
Email us, with your user name and IP if possible and we will take it from
there. d
Q: I
posted a message the other day and it is no longer there. Why?
A The message board can only take 300 posts at a time, so anything after
that will be deleted to allow for the new messages to come in.
Q: Some
people are posting some very bad/abusive posts, what can I do about them?
A: We will either spot them ourselves and take care of them, or you can always
contact us, with all the
details, and we will take it from there.
Q: I
still have more questions, which weren't answered here, how can I get more
resources to the use of the message board?
A: You may visit this external link to the
board's website, which has more help
resources, or to email us
your questions.
Q: What
is it?
A: "Assyrian Voice Music" is a special section in our website that
allows you to listen to Assyrian songs and music, from different genres and
eras.
Q: What do I need listen to the
songs?
A: All you need is the Free Real Player, which can be downloaded from here.
Q: I downloaded Real Player, where do
I go from here?
A: Locate where the file is first. Double click on it, and the rest should
be easy and automatic. If you do get stuck in the process,
email us and we will help
you get through it.
Q: Can we download these songs and
burn them on a CD?
A: While it is not possible to do so with the Real Player format, we still
prohibit any downloading/burning of music without paying. If you need to have
any of these songs on your own CD, you should buy them. Assyrian Voice
strictly prohibits the downloading of music for the purpose of keeping it on
your CD and permanently.
Q: When I play a song sometimes, Real
Player displays status message saying "Buffering..". What is that?
Buffering usually indicates a problem with your internet connection.
Sometimes it could be a problem with the server on the other end. All you have
to do, is to either wait, or stop the song and play it again.
Q: I like some of the songs I find in
there, how can I buy them?
A: Since we don't know which songs you are looking for, it is best to
contact us and let us know, and we will reply back with a location of where you
can obtain these songs.
Q: Where can I find the lyrics to
some of these songs?
A: This is a future project, to list the songs lyrics with every song. We
will let you know of any updates.
Q: I am an Assyrian singer and want
my songs put on your website: how can I do that?
A: We always welcome new additions to our website. If you are a professional
singer, have your own albums, then please email us, including your name, email
and a brief music details about yourself. We will reply back to you with all the
info. you need to have your music on our website.
Q: How often or when will you add
more songs/singers to your music section?
A: We are always adding new music and singers. We add both new albums as
well as new singers, on a regular basis. It all depends on when we get the
album, or how fast we get in touch with new singers.
Q: Some songs are not very clear!
A: While we recognize that not all our songs are clear, you have to bear in
mind that some songs are not clear from the origin. That is, we get them that
way, so we can't do much about it. Having said that, we do our best to
present you with the clearest sound and music possible for all our songs.
Q: I still have more questions, and I
need help!
A: If you still have questions, you can visit our
Music Forum
or simply email us your questions.
It is best to both visit the forum and email us, because chances are, the people
on the forum have an answer for your question
Q: What are
"Photo Albums"?
A:
Photo Album is a special service on our website that allows our members, users
and visitors to send their picture so that it be displayed on our website, and
be viewed by others visiting our website, from all over the world. The service
is free and allows for a great communication between people of our website,
and lets them get in touch with more people, or people they lost touch with.
Q:
How do I send my picture?
A: Sending a picture to be displayed on our albums is simple. Just
follow this link, and follow

we receive as well as the commitment of the website to other projects.
Typically, new release of new albums happens at least once a year.
Q: How many new
albums does each new release contain?
A:
Again, depending on the volume of pictures we receive, typically
each new release has anywhere between 10-15 albums. Each of these albums has
between 15-20 pictures.
Q: I sent my
pictures but wasn't included in the most recent photo album release. Why is
that?
A: More than one thing could have gone wrong. Please review the list
by clicking here to ensure that your picture met our requirements. These requirements
ensure that we meet the highest standards of quality that ensure the best
albums for our users.
Q: I met all your requirements, but my picture was still
not included!
A: Other factors may have had an effect and these can be reviewed
here.
Q: I have a picture in the Photo Album, which I want to
remove. How can I do that?
A:
Removing a picture is simple, and all yoyo need to do is send us an
email, indicating your reasons, your relationship to the picture and your
name.
Q: Some of the pictures I sent, had their size altered
without my permission.
A:
By sending your pictures to us, you agree to give us permission to
alter any picture in accordance with our standards of quality. These measures
are usually taken to ensure that the albums are as light as possible,
resulting in better quality and less download times.
Q: I still have more questions or need more help!
A:
If you still have more questions or need more help, please
email us. You may also visit our

questions (the use of Discussion Forums requires that you register first)
Q: What is it?
A: "Assyrian Voice Pictures" is a special service on our website that lets
members create their own albums and upload their pictures and photos there. You
can make the pictures either public so everyone can see them, or private, so
only you and the people you select will be able to see them.
Q: What is the main difference between this section and the Photo Album?
A: "Assyrian Voice Photo Albums" vs. "Assyrian Voice Pictures": This
section gives the user a complete control over what they can upload, when they
can upload etc. Photo Albums on the other hand is more of a process, where
users send their pictures, which then are put in album by the website, and this
usually takes more time, but the end result is very difference. This
section displays pictures the way they were uploaded. Photo Albums on the
other hand have their own themes, background music and pictures and much more.
And finally, Photo Albums are more elegant and professional, whereas this
section here can be used to upload and display any pictures, including a picture
which you want to show someone else; they could be a picture of anything, while
the Photo Albums is strictly a social thing.
Q: How do I register, or get started?
A: To get started, you simply log-in using your forums user name. If you
don't have that, you need to register in the forums. Your forums username will
enable you to use both services. Once you log-in into the forums, you will
be automatically logged on into the Pictures section.

where you will be able to upload your pictures, up to 5 at a time. You can
upload pictures from your computer, or from the internet, as long as you have
the URL to the file and permission to use it.
Q: What is the difference between "File Upload" and "URI/URL Uploads"?
A: Like mentioned above, you can upload pictures two ways: pictures from
your computer and pictures on the internet. To upload pictures from your own
computer use the "File Upload" field. If the picture is on the internet
somewhere, you use "URI/URL Uploads."

Q: How do I delete a picture or
modify its properties?
A: If you are logged in, simply click on the picture you want to change, and
from there you will have a whole list of tools that will let you change the
properties of the picture.
Q: What is the difference between
"User Galleries" and the other 4 specialty galleries?
A: "User Galleries" are those created by users. While the other 4
specialty albums are created by our website, providing a way for us to
categorize the pictures we upload according to: (Assyrian Cities and Buildings),
(Assyrian Celebrities and People), (Assyrian Arts and Art crafts), (Assyrian
Voice Members Pictures)
The categories are fairly self-explanatory. The user is free to upload their
pictures to either their own album or to one of these 4 public albums. It is
just a way of organizing things. For example, an Assyrian artists might
find the "Assyrian Arts and Art crafts"Gallery very interesting, and time-saver.
While an Assyrian priest or archeologist might be more interested in the
"Assyrian Cities and Buildings" gallery, since in there they can see pictures of
churches and other Assyrian buildings, and nothing else.
Q: What is the maximum number of albums we can create?
A: There is no limit to how many albums you can create, as long as you are
within the capacity limit.
Q: Can we create sub-albums?
A: This feature is not available.

A: Adding an event is very simply: just click on the "Register Event"
button and fill out all the fields. Sending wrong or incomplete information will
result in your entry being denied.
Q: I added an event but it was never posted. Why is that?
A: There could be more than one reason for this. Chances are, some
information was missing, the information was not authenticated or the info was
just sent late.
Q: How long before the event do we have to register it for it to appear on
Assyrian Voice?
A: You should allow at least three weeks between the event and the

post it and for people to see it.
