Iraqi Electoral Commission has assigned numbers to the different Assyrian parties for the upcoming 2014 elections. Here are the main ones:

298: Sons of Mesopotamia (a new party which recently split from Zowaa)
299: Al-Warkaa Democratic List
300: Al-Rafidain List (Zowaa)
301: Bet Nahrain National Coalition
302:  Chaldean Syriac Assyrian Popular Council (KRG affiliated)
303: Babylon List
304: Souraya National Coalition
305: Ur National List
306: Shlama Entity

The Iraqi parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held in Iraq on 30 April 2014. The elections will decide the 328 members of the Council of Representatives who will in turn elect the Iraqi President and Prime Minister.

Even after the fall of Nineveh (612BC) The Assyrians lived under their own law, they had their own autonomy under the different names such as Athura, Adiabene and Asuristan. It lasted till the 7th century AD.

Sennacherib II(2), was an Assyrian Governor or 'king' of northern Asuristan in 372 AD.

Zowaa easily got this.

They will probably get the usual 2/3 out of 5 seats, but it is sad that with every election, we get a new list splitting from Zowaa and further weakening us.

It is fine, go ahead and split, but don't participate in the elections, at least not right away. It just cost us votes.

List 298 is made up of many founding Zowaa men and women. Many of our holy martyrs of Zowaa who gave the ultimate sacrifice would be in that list if they were alive today. Do not forget. There is a reason why most founders have left Kanna's rule.

I hope Kanna will leave Zowaa soon, either by force or will, so it can return to a democratic party, and so that 298 and 300 once again can become Zowaa.
“Their enemies had realized their national potential long before the Assyrians themselves. The enemy was not afraid of good farmers, good parents, good church-going parishioners...the enemy was afraid of Assyrians wrapped in nationhood.”

-Mount Semele, Ivan Kakovitch
