in both pictures the girls on the right side are from michigan :) the bottom pic, the girl on the right is my first cousin.
Im not trying to sound rude or anything but in my opinion i truly dont think it was a right choice for miss assyria. seriously, if you google her, shes been arrested not long before the pageant for marijuana? but that's a normal think i guess in chicago. Like someone mentioned on instagram, if you dont smoke weed, then you didn't make the cut lol. anyways, congrats to all the girls ..

Nobody is perfect (Romans 3:13 as it is written: none is righteous, no, not one;) and cannabis is legal already in several states already and not to mention it helps breast cancer and many other forms of cancer as well. You should research more of medical studies from Harvard Uni. on scholarly resources of how cannabis helps people then wasting time searching up people and putting people down. I guess its true after all that people in Michigan always like to put people down and not like to see there own excel.
i actually didn't search her, as if i have time to search ppl, especially ppl i dont even know! and as far as you said i "put her down" she did that herself..i didnt realize that making comments put ppl down. well geez maybe ppl on here should keep their opinions to their self. i remember when i made a thread once and ppl put me down, i could care less honestly. anyways, this came to a lot of ppl's attention about this and thought id share my knowledge of it. i watched the miss assyria on youtube and there was many who answered questions more intelligently than the few that were picked for the top 6. oh well. i am all for ppl to "excel" especially the same culture..but it AMERICA...FREEDOM of SPEECH & OPINION! i spoke my opinion doesnt mean im putting anyone down, its a matter of opinion.

my last name is ishaya with no relation.

nothing against you but I'm just sick of people who put people down. too many people leaving the church for example who had done so much for the church yet others around putting people down regardless. I sit behind the sideline and think wooow this is my community?! We must not forget even Apostle Peter betrayed Jesus three times! THREE TIMES! At the end of the day we are humans; we make mistakes, and should be forgiven because we are all christians. If I was in the thread you made when the people put you down; I would of told them to go fly a kite because your my people and deserve nothing less. :)

She is so beautiful.

Seriously, as soon as she walked out being introduced to us, I was like "damn, she's so pretty and will definitely win".

And she won after all :)

Don't wanna sound foul, but her runners up didn't deserve their spot. There were so many MORE pretty ones standing at the back who deserved to be in the top 6.

i agree with the runners up... there was so many that werent even in the top 6 that should've been part of it... not just by their beauty but by what they answered.

lol no but really, there's a lot of young Assyrian girls who look up to this "miss assyria" pageant and dream about being in it when they are older... to young girls its a big deal..i remember when i was a little kid, going to chicago to watch the pageant, i was amazed and in awe of all the ladies who were in it. i actually was told about some mothers comment before it was deleted on the assyrian media's facebook page about how that mothers daughter looks up to this pageant and how its very disappointing that they pick girls who do stuff that isnt something a role model should do..whether it is legal or not or whether ppl think its "bad" or "good"  :) that is all  :)

I saw the video to this. All were beautiful inside and out. I think a few girls also answered. The questions really well. What I would like to see is for them to expand it more so whoever wins it they should do work for the Assyrian ppl. Whatever it be talking to the Assyrian youth about getting involved in the Assyrian community or something at there jobs putting on an event etc letting people know about the Assyrian people. Like in miss universe they go out and do stuff as miss universe. The miss Assyria should do the same. Many of the assyrian girls are educated so use this and the place they work to there advantage.  Then next year event they tell us what they have done etc that would be nice. Miss assyria comes with everything not just looks it should be what they do for our nation . Congrats to this years miss Assyria :)

I feel regretful about asking this, and tried not to, but am just too curious. I am hoping this is a case of mistaken identity, that this Paula Warda is not the same Paula Warda of Morton Grove who in 2011, was arrested for marijuana and other drug paraphernalia possession. As soon as you Google the name, that's what you get.

It's sad and I honestly can't think of anyone I really consider a 'role model?'

The only role models I need are: My parents.

Thank god that they're positive role models!

What are they trying to achieve with this event.? Also the winner how long ago was she arrested for weed. She might have changed. And was it just weed she was arrested for. Maybe if it was a while back the judges thought not to hold it against her. Maybe even the judges don't even know her background. Plus I'm sure the other girls are not perfect. Not one of these girls are a role model.  What have they done for the Assyrian community.  Personally I think  the judges don't have time to look into the Girls background. It's just for fun. U know it is just by the questions for the top 5. It was so funny when they said what would you choose money or education. If course they will all say education.

Not saying smoking weed should be excused but that is in her past, we hope. And really, who in their right mind would look up to a beauty pageant as their role model? I mean little girls may look up to them, but they are not their main example to go by. And she won by her performance on this night and not based on her past.

The problem isn't her smoking weed, it's that she was arrested for it. It's a stupid law that has no business existing.  People here are holding it against her like she robbed a liquor store or kidnapped a child.

Also, beauty pageants are stupid. This event is pointless. Give out an academic scholarship and move along.
