A Chaldean church website is spreading a lot of hate!
« on: April 28, 2012, 01:16:50 PM »
I was motivated to write this post after reading another article written in Arabic about this very issue (article is posted here in Arabic)

A lot of you are probably familiar with the website kaldaya.net : it is run by the Chaldean church in San Diego, headed by non other than, you guessed it, Sarhad Jamo and many of his followers.

This site has been spewing hate for years now and something need to change. It either stops it or I hope Chaldean church officials in Iraq take notice and asks it to stop. Why? because it is doing so much damage and divisions, the likes of which we have never seen.

This is not about Chaldean vs. Assyrian. Please be aware of that. But this site is making it 'us against the world' and it is alienating its very chaldeans first before anyone else.

When Assyrians had their own church issues 5 years ago (the details of which I will not get into of course) Assyrians were very quick to criticise their own church and clergy for causing so much divisions. I hope our Catholic Assyrians and their church leaders do the same thing and put an end to this.

For a church and its followers to be able to be so negative and full of hate for so many years is just unheard of. We know that our brothers from the Catholic church may not be into nationalism but we do know they are very devout and dedicated to their church and spreading the message of Christ and the bible. Last time I checked, the message of Christ is all about love, including love for your enemy. But these guys, who are our own people and blood, have nothing but attacking anyone that doesn't agree with them.

Enough is enough.

Do you agree?

I raised the alarm bells about this website over a year ago with my friends, mostly chaldeans, and trust me, they look at this website with disgust and ridciule. it doesn't represent them one bit. sarhad jamo will soon be kicked out from the chaldean church much like his friend mar bawi was kicked out of the assyrian church. there is a reason the two are friends: they are both full of it

I understand church related discussions can invoke a lot of emotions and reactions, but no need to bring back any other details from the past. This is strictly about this site which is not making things good, in a day where unity is sorely needed.

It is ironic that our political parties and movements-often characterized by bitter disputes and distrust in the past-have rallied together and are often united of late. While this supposedly church-related website, is spreading hate like it is free candies.

I m chaldean (well I belong to the chaldean church that my father does) and though I don't read arabic, I have heard of that website and always in bad ways. And now I see you guys talk about it, am not shocked. but disappointed? Absolutely. Why would church people be so full of hate? Jesus must be so disappointed, let alone us the people.
as a member of a chaldean church, am really disgusted by this website and what it represents.  And ashor thanks for being clear on this not being assyrian vs chaldean. We are all one people regardless of what this hateful website preaches.

The aforementioned site is run by the Chaldean Roman Catholic Church denomination and has actually some of those so-called newly found newly born "chaldean nationalists" who do not spare an occasion to attack the Assyrian identity and make all kinds of false claims against the Assyrian nationalists and the Church of the the East and its hierarchy, not only that but there is a Deacon who claims to have a doctorate (earned from a website) and his name is Giwargis Mardo II, this so-called deacon all he does is write hateful articles against anything Assyrian, falsely also claiming that today's Assyrians are not as such and other sick views which not only have nothing to do with Christianity but also are malice in their nature with such filth that no one believes this is a deacon in a church.

The rest of the gang of so-called writers are just as hateful, truth twisting, self-serving individuals who will do any thing to get into the spotlight and many of them are kurd supporters, claiming brotherhood with kurds and so forth.

As for the Chaldean Roman Catholic Church taking note of such a website and stopping it, I do not see that happening except if the Vatican is made aware of this travesty (if it does not know about it already) and it would be the only power to stop it because Sarhad Jammo and his followers do not care about the authority of Mar Dali.

However, there are many followers of the Chaldean Roman Catholic Church who do not deny their Assyrian identity but if they are proud of their Assyrian identity, they have also to stop the destruction path which is set by Jammo, his followers and affiliates, so the Church has to be cleaned from inside and if those followers of the Chaldean Roman Catholic Church who believe in their Assyrian identity stand up and take a stand, it is certain that things will change.
ASSYRIA not a mere name but a state of mind, existence, history and identity

Only the Assyrian intellects of the Chaldean Church can do a change by exposing these samples, and It's encouraging to see many articles written these days by Catholic Assyrians (Chaldeans) against the divisive policy of their church.

I wrote about the weakness of the "Chaldean Intellects" months ago, where you can see the truth about this dilemma see link :

This is what I call irrational and blind nationalism. Just talk, which does more damage to a nation's unity than anything else.

I hope more officials from the chaldean church around the world come across this website and express their outrage at what they see.

Three things could possibly happen:

-things remain like they are and nothing changes
-the chaldean church in Iraq takes notice and ask the website to be taken down or at least tone it down. And the website does comply
-or the worst case scenario is for the chaldean church in Iraq does take notice and asks the website to tone it down, and they refuse to, which would officially start the process for Mr. Jammo to start acting independently and be a rogue within the church. This will be met with possible official expulsion from the church.

Will watch with interest.

It is in the interest of the chaldean church to act now and act decisively. This is becoming a clowns show.

Dear Ashoor

A Catholic church has no authority on any of its bishops, yes they can "ask" him but he can simply reject under the banner "freedom of speech". The only side who can impose something on a Catholic bishop is the one behind all our problems and calamities; the Vatican.
