Assyrian Christians arrested

In Qamishli, Syrian security raided the headquarters of the Assyrian Democratic Association and arrested 12 of its members, according to two activists who spoke to al-Jazeera.

It was the first crackdown by security forces on the widespread participation of Assyrian Christians in the democratic uprising.

Khodr Abdel Karim, a human rights activist in Qamishli, said: "This is a message from the regime to Syrian Christians not to participate in any of these demonstrations. It is the duty of every Syrian to claim them back from this arrest."

Syria has launched a bloody crackdown over the past two months in response to an unprecedented uprising against Bashar al-Assad, the country’s president. Human rights groups say more than 850 people have been killed.

Syria has blamed the unrest on armed thugs and foreign agitators.

The things that comes to my mind is how stupid are those people to go and demonstrate in support of Kurdish political self-government in north of Syria.

Here, in the West, don`t know that Muslims in Middle East, are fighting each other, killing each other, assassinating, and bombing each other.

The move of this so called now Assyrian party (in which it is truly not Assyrian), as they call themselves with the slash names, their move is to support the Kurdish political party, in which the kurdish will take advantage and create their own self autonomy area.  Yet, Assyrian become like commodity.

Assyrian should not get involve blindly in supporting war, in support of those Islamic Sinnah, nor in support those Kurdish terrorist.

I feel, the action of the arrest was the best for the Syrian government and for the Assyrian to see those few people be arrested, that for their own safety, and for the safety of our Assyrian community, because they are members of Kurdish parties, and some may be lied to walk with them.

Thsoe whom got arrested are Kurdish supporters, and they don`t represent Assyrian, nor they represent Christian people.

The fighting in Syria, will take not months, but years from now on, and Syria government, its army, its powerful secret service will surely murder many innocent people whom wake under the name of so called democratic demonstration.

Now, they got arrested, they call themselves Assyrian, and what about their own slash names that they use, stealing Assyrian names to make political profit.

What about using their own so called Christian name, the Bishops of Christian churches will not regonize them.  This party is bankrupt morally, ethically and Assyrian nationalistic, as they are not Assyrian, but Kurdish hands supporters.

Assyrian need not be involve in Islamic fighting against each other.
I see that Islamic fighting each other, under the name of so called democracy, and is not our own business.

Those whom get involved are wasting their time, their life, yet, the profit is not theirs, but lost of years of their life.

Stand for Assyrian only, and not for and in support of those Kurdish terrorists and their political objectives.

I couldn't agree more, and I don't feel sorry for them as long as we don't have our own court to Judges the kurdist, let others do the job for us.

You know what you are the same people that just seat behind your pc's and complain, Assyrians in Occupied-Assyria are doomed if they do or don’t.

If they didn’t get involved ill put my house on it that you two will be the first to complain on how ADO doesn’t get involved in the uprising and how they should grab a piece of land for Assyrians in Syria.

ADO is one of our oldest organisations who have been operating in Assyria for over 50 years. What have you guys done for our people? Besides stupid posts and threads about your opinion no one cares about?

Burlington City: You portraying ADO as puppets of Kurdish parties once and for all cleared the question whether you and your comrade are a freud or not. Your ignorance shines upon you.

Just received word that the Assyrian men who were arrested have been freed, and welcome back to their town by hundreds of people.

Since the ADO jumped on the kurdish wagon in Syria, and all other so-called political parties and organizations which are supporting kurds (such as in Iraq) over Assyrian interests have no longer any thing to do with Assyria, the Assyrians and their interests.

They should be ashamed of themselves for supporting the kurds in Syria who want to turn the rest of Assyrian villages and towns to another kurdish enclave and those "geniuses" are supporting that.

You really sound like you have no clue what is happening in Syria. At this point nobody cares what you or I think. The dictatorship in Syria is coming down sooner or later. If the Assyrians sit and do nothing like good christians we will have no part in post Assad Syria. We must stand up for justice, fight for our rights and works towards a democratic Syria. Nobody is scared of Kurds NOR is this a Kurdish revolt. The uprising was started by Sunnis, who are 80% of Syria and have had enough of this dictator. ADO is loved by Assyrians in Syria and all over so who really cares what you and a few other internet warriors think.

I pity your thinking and many others who are thinking like you. We all know that any regime in any country doesn't care except to keep its own influence, however, those Sunnis, you are saying started the revolt, are mostly Salafi-Wahbists and the kurds in Syria are majority Sunnis. During their demonstrations they were shouting "Allawis in coffins and Christians to Beirut". You think that if this regime (with all that is bad in it) if toppled, the situation of the Christians in general and Assyrians in particular will not be the same as that which happened and is still going on in Iraq ?

Muslims any where in the world do not think except of how to force Islam in any area they control as they consider it as "Dar al-Islam" (Islam's Home) thus, as a non-muslim you will either have to accept living as a Dhimmi or as a less than a human.

Those Salafis have not yet taken the rule and Christian women in areas where muslims are a majority are veiling themselves in order to go to work or school, because the word is going out that those fanatics are considering Christian women as Sabaya (war gains) so they are an open range for rape and anything else ...

As for the ADO, few years back when Bashir Saadi and his gang began swaying away from the ADO "principals", many left ADO because of this man's crooked thought. He uses the Assyrian name just like others in his medium for their own personal dirty interests. There is no ADO left, except a handful of kurdish puppets.

We will see what the days will bring and then we shall remind each other.

Wake up ... Kalba khwara yan kalba kooma hal kalba ele.
