"Assyria" Spotted in this Old, Unknown Map
« on: June 04, 2010, 12:38:02 AM »
Can you spot the word "Assyria" in this map?

We are above "Arabia" and to the right of "Syria"

Ok so I googled Pomponius Mela, which appears on the top of that map, and this is what I found on Wikipedia:

Pomponius Mela, who wrote around AD 43, was the earliest Roman geographer. He was born in Tingentera (Algeciras) and died c 45 CE.[1]

Nice, but there is defenitly an error. It must say "Aram-Nahraim" and not Assyria.

Thanks for sharring the map bro, quit interesting!

I guess our forefathers just made some very long vaccation on the moon between 610BC to 39AD and were just back before that map was made.

The continuity of the Assyrian people is proven these days. We had an Assyrian governor in Ashur 609 A.D (3 years after the so called extermination of the Assyrian people), we had several of states as Edessa/Osroene, Roman Assyria, Persian Assyria, Adiabene, autonomy during the time of Mohammed etc.
“Their enemies had realized their national potential long before the Assyrians themselves. The enemy was not afraid of good farmers, good parents, good church-going parishioners...the enemy was afraid of Assyrians wrapped in nationhood.”

-Mount Semele, Ivan Kakovitch
