Anyone got this email from Aina? What a picture this is, love it! No, this is not a Zowaa parade, even though the numbers would make you think so... It is actually of people out to celebrate Palm Sunday Al Hamdanyia, North Iraq (AINA) -- Thousands of Assyrians participated in a procession through the Assyrian town of Baghdede to celebrate Palm Sunday according to the Syriac Catholic Church rite. The town of Baghdede lies just a few kilometers from the city of Mosul where there are still terrorist attacks. The overall increase in security is however being felt across Iraq and allowing for increased freedom for religious and national celebrations among the Assyrian communityASHOOR

Where are the terrorists and enemies of our nation to see this. They thought they could initimidate us and make us scared to practice our religion. This picture clearly tells a different story...

I was just going to ask what you guys think is a rough estimate of how many people are in the picture. Thanks David. I thought between 75,000 and 100,000.
I have searched so much for a software that can scan a certain image and gives you an estinate of how many people are in it, and didn't find anything. That is a software I would love to develop, would come in so handy for our Assyrian events and functions.

I wonder if our friend Chaldean was here, although this is in Nineveh, and he was in Dohuk a few days ago.

75,000-100,000? Let's not get crazy now, that's more than double the population of the town itself.
I'd say that there are around 10,000 (15,000 tops), which is still a pretty impressive number. It's the image that's amazing, not the numbers.

Is it not possible that people from surrounding towns came as well?

Carolo, I am sure it is not the town itself, more like all the surrounding towns.
A good way to get an estimate of number of people in the picture, is to compare it to pictures with similar attributes (concerts, political speeches etc.) and you would arrive at such a number.

Here guys, look at this picture I just edited: there is about 125 people in that square I drew (accounting for the space too). Now do that, how many squares can you have from this crowd? You can do two of these squares from the width of the street. So we are left with the length of the street, and as you can see, the crowd streches very long, you can't even see the whole thing on the picture. ASHOOR

Rumtaya haha. Not really an argument, but this is how you get to a final answer: by debating something back and fourth. Sometimes it takes such a debate to see a point which you didn't see earlier.

Ummmm.....I'd like to think there were 100,000 people there. How can I come up with that? Easy! I made it up to look good We have to do this when we submit photos to the media or anything that involves number of participants. Don't be scared to exaggerate your numbers a bit. It always looks good. And hell, the media always blows things out of proportion so they'll buy into it!

Sometime is good to exaggerate things for propaganda but it has to be reasonable, something like this one can´t bee 100 000 people cause the whole city of this city(Hamdaniye) is about 40 000 Assyrians, then how come that this got to be 100 000, even if you incounting the villages around this city, yet it cant be 100 000 cause the number of Assyrians in Mosul plain according ADM, is about 150 000 Assyrians,so this doesn´t make any sense?,therefore you shouldn´t exaggerating to much, cause no one will believe you anyway, it is much better if you say a reasonable number for good propaganda for your people.... anyway, the point is that they have gathered and done a beutiful thing and they appeared as fearless and they are not affraid of terorists and they are still alive......

Easy...not everyone in the crowd was an Assyrian. There were thousands of Arabs that came as well as thousands that came from Syria to spend easter there. We are also forgetting the many that came up for Akitu from all over Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and everywhere else that could have attended. Also, don't forget the KDP and their spy's that are attempting to infiltrate this procession.... There's your 100,000 Or at least 75,000 lol
