« on: November 25, 2009, 01:49:50 AM »
Hi my name is Adolfo Caso and im new in this forum. Assyrian is on of the lenguages i like more and is very interesting for me. Here in Mexico its hard to find someone to make tradcutions in this lenguage  but for my luck y found this grate site.

Well my phrase is:       " I have faith in you"

Its a little phrase that express my faith in God and i would like to make a tattoo with it ;)

If someone could traduce it with different fonts it woulld be grate and i will appreciate it alot!!!

Hey Adolfo,

We have two words for "you," one masculine and one feminine. Are you saying it to a man or a woman?

That's what I thought at first, but I didn't want to assume. You never know.

EDIT: whoops, sorry about that, I guess I didn't read that part. :bangin:

EDIT 2: Okay, so here it is to the best of my ability. Keep in mind that this is in classical/written/old Syriac/Assyrian/Aramaic, i.e. Biblical. You would have dozens of different spellings and pronunciations if you were to write it in the modern dialects (which is why I maintain that you can't and shouldn't write in them, since there is no standard).

You're basically looking at two options for "faith": one is savra (in the left column), which can also mean "hope," and the other is haymanootha (in the right column), which originally meant "faith" or "confidence" but has come to mean "religion." It's your choice which one you want to use.

The column on the left is pronounced "eeth lee savra bakh" and on the right "eeth lee haymanootha bakh."

Also, if you're going to get it tattooed, please make sure you get it checked by someone else. I'm pretty sure I didn't make a mistake, but it's always good to get these things checked out before you permanently inscribe them onto your body.

Que tal Jacob! La cultura asiria me parese interesantisima, tanto su historia como sus tipos de escritura me llaman mucho la atención. Es muy dificil aqui en Mexico tener acceso a este tipo de traducciones debido a la naturaleza del idioma. Afortunadamente encontre esta pagina por mi constante busqueda en internet y mis ganas de aprender un poco mas de este grandioso idioma.

Agradesco tu atencion asi como las de los demás miembros. Les deseo suerte y por aqui estare mas seguido!!!
