What ahould we call our language

What should we call our language, syriac,assyrian or aramaic?

"Syriac" seems appropriate for classical Syriac, or that language spoken 1000 years ago (even though Assyrian is a modern Syriac language).

"Assyrian" sounds right for modern Aramaic. It seems like a simpler term. We're Assyrian people, and so we speak Assyrian. No confusion.

"Aramaic", although it's an umbrella term for Assyrian and Syriac, is most suitable for classical Aramaic or old Aramaic (Jesus' Aramaic).
