having trouble with translating computer science terms
« on: October 14, 2015, 04:56:44 PM »
I'm trying to translate the Pointer and Reference data type concepts into Sureth but I have no idea what root to use for them

pointer - A variable that holds the address of a memory location where a value can be stored.
reference - An object containing information which refers to data stored elsewhere, as opposed to containing the data itself.

how and what word would you translate them to?

MrZ, the problem with what you are trying to translate is that it is way too advanced for the Assyrian language. In other words, we have to find simpler terms for computers in general before we move to the next step of finding terms for coding, compilers, debugging etc.

One way to do it, is to continue using English terms for now, and once we have ironed out the basic ones, then you can move to tackle the more difficult ones.
