Happy Women's Day!!!

A bouquet of women in celebration
A statement issued by the Assyrian Women's Union, which reads: on the occasion of the 8th of March, International Women's Day we extend our warmest congratulations and best wishes to all the women of the world on this happy occasion. It is a day to Tslst light on what the women in the world have made over history offered at the present time, many women had Khatarn their lives for the greater participation to build free societies democracy for future generations, as the rights of Atate on a silver platter, but the struggle of Asir and demand and the struggle by women and its backers, and needs the support and solidarity of the world by human rights organization. Successive celebration of International Women's Day since 1911 in a number of European countries in 1977 adopted the National Assembly of the United the United States adopted a resolution calling for allocated on 8 March to celebrate women's rights and later became known as International Women's Day, and those beginning for the development of women's movement becomes considered a national holiday in many countries.
The increased number of women occupy a niche in society, although there are still a lot of things that should be accomplished That a day for women is a global recognition of their efforts and their role in society, and the continuing struggle to achieve all their legitimate rights, but did not this recognition only after great suffering. The status of women and their enjoyment of freedom and equality with men in rights and duties is the true measure of the level of development of any civilized society. Now, that mistake rights argument in the way of civilization, science and Altklenojia evolved and changed peoples life, women have proved that they to quote the man the capacity and efficiency, therefore pricks any reason to deny rights and Mtalibha having suffered much from persecution because of the laws, customs and traditions that were practiced ballet right. Today, Iraqi women received 8 March under which the brunt of the suffering caused by the continuing deterioration of the situation, which is part of the the women of the world Charkhn same worries but suffering double as a result of their political, social, economic and cultural development, in spite of this All it continues its journey of struggle and its ongoing.  That painful reality of the case of Iraqi society and which women constitute more than half, underlines the urgent need for solidarity The reconciliation for peace, democracy and justice.
We, in turn, in the Assyrian Women's Union appeal to women with locations in the decision-making process is Mogaahn register positions arrange women and to stand by the people to reduce their suffering. We stress that these are appropriate incentive for the international community to put an end to violations of the rights of women and to continue to work to promote their rights. Finally, we congratulate women everywhere, hoping to move forward in the struggle for equality, social justice and peace.  And we give a bouquet at the time immortal.

I've heard that when applying for US citizenship applicants are asked whether they are communist or feminists.  Apparently answering yes to these two questions hinders your application status....is this true?

LOL...umm...yes and no.  I know they ask if you belong to a communist party, but I think this is left over from the Cold War and we just never stopped asking it.  I have never heard of anyone being asked if they were feminist!!!

Possibly because of its association with communism...

International Women's Day (IWD) is marked on 8 March every year. It is a major day of global celebration for the economic, political and social achievements of women. Started as a political event, the holiday blended in the culture of many countries (primarily Russia and the countries of former Soviet bloc)

Thanks! I thought the second part was too bizarre to be true  :)

Well, that explains it!

But this is interesting:

"The first IWD was observed on 28 February 1909 in the United States following a declaration by the Socialist Party of America. "

Weird it didn't stick.

A good question. And don't forget that the states had the strongest feminist movement in the 60s as well.  What led to this beats me:
Maybe they were arrested due to that annoying song :loool:
