Unfortunately, I don't have a nationalistic name.  With a name like NATASHA, I sound like some sort of a Russian spy or an Assassin. hehe

I would definately like to give my kids Assyrian names so we'll see...

I most probably wont. I prefer other names.

yes if we find a cool name that we both like, me and "kolpat". Or perhaps if me and my "kolpat" ended up having sex back home (iraq) and conceived a baby there, then most likely we would! :2hearts:

I'll probably give them Assyrian names to use around the house but write it differently in their documents...
For example:
petros will be peter
youkhana- john
gewargis-george
ninweh- nina
etc.

I'm sure everyone knows what I'd choose :) Of course Assyrian names :)

My first born son would be named Younan after my grandfather on my dad's side who unfortunatly passed on before I was born.

Other names I'd have would be Youkhana, Andreos ;) , and/or Ninurta (Jupitor God and former Assyrian King).

For my potential daughters I'd have to name them unique. Not the typical Nineveh, Shamiran, Ashourina, etc. I'd name them Tilga (Snow...my favourite), Ishtar, and Ceramia.

Not bad?

But Assyrians namea are cool.

It's better than name your child: Kees, Hans, Anita, or something.

 :2guns:  Whats wrong with Anita,huh??

Yes, I will give them Assyrian names, but NOT ancient names, rather names from our daily lives & ones that are used in English as well.

One name which I love for a girl, is Nora (pronounced Nawra, meaning Light in Assyrian) and it's also used in English.

nora.. doesn't it mean mirror in assyrian?  :hmmm:

hey thats what i thought to.

Maybe our mistakes are what make our fate. Without them, what would shape our lives? Perhaps if we never veered off course, we wouldn't fall in love, or have babies, or be who we are. After all, seasons change. So do cities. People come into your life and people go. But it's comforting to know the ones you love are always in your heart. And if you're very lucky, a plane ride away.

i dont think theres many ppl with assyrian kings names...liek ive never heard of any1 called "shalmanesar" or shamshi-adad?

wats ur take on this topic since u began it?

actually my cousins name is adad and all 60 grandchildren have assyrian names from sargon, ninos, till arbelina, nineb, ishtar, ashur, athra, simeli, etc etc etc

one is more beautifull the the other.. i can not imagine people are ashamed to name their children with those beautiful names....i would be so proud to be Um Ashur:)
