"Safe Haven For Assyrians"
« on: March 20, 2008, 12:51:55 AM »
I think the Assyrians can have a safe haven, unless we are prepared to play the same game of having a militia of sorts, willing and able to fight with steady supply of armed weapons, salaries etc, this would prevent the crimes committed against our people in our beloved homeland (ASSYRIA).

The Kurds got their "Safe Haven" by force and did everything in their power and of course stealing ASHURLAND and calling it B.S. KURDISTAN!

ASSYRIA will have to form it's own militia?  We have to play dirty just like the Kurds did!!  Every major step begins with ONE small step!!

Will never happen in our life time, unless we are funded heavily by an outside nation and are able to properly finance a security force and to develop a solid economy with a proper judicial system.

duh.

However... what we should focus on is obtaining the minimal rights we need to survive and start lobbying for our cause...which in this case will be a "safe haven".  You don't need a militia to survive, just some backing and of course, that comes with a price. (i.e. money, trade)

A "safe haven", if I understand the term correctly, is actually a lower rung than we can constitutionally achieve in Iraq.  Which begs the question, if we are going to spend the resources to get a safe haven, why don't we use those same resources to get an administrative unit, which is actually within the Iraqi legal framework and affords us our own governance unit?

I don't agree. I think we should aim low. That way when we get better than anticipated results, we're happier!

But...the administrative unit is in the constitution.  It is aiming within what is realistic.  To aim lower is...unfair to your nation.  It's like giving them crumbs when they can get a sandwhich.

sar·casm  Pronunciation[sahr-kaz-uhm]–noun

1. harsh or bitter derision or irony.
2. a sharply ironical taunt; sneering or cutting remark: a review full of sarcasms.

Thought I'd help out :)
