Are Iraqi Shi'ites even worse than Sunnis?
« on: January 20, 2016, 09:39:04 PM »
For a minute , if you can forget ISIS and Al Qaeda.
Look back at the Saddam days.
Under Sunni rule, Christians like Tariq Aziz and others had prominent positions within the government. They faced little religious persecution. Saddam even donated large sums of money to Assyrian-Chaldean churches in the US. Sunnis were more liberal and many of their women did not even cover their hair.
You had the Shia uprisings throughout the latter half of the 20th century. Western observers tried to paint this as revolts against the admittedly tyrannical government, but the truth of the matter is the Shia just wanted to establish a theocracy. Even now, most of them do not care about Iraq, they only care about fanatically following whatever some ayatollah tells them.

As the saying goes, same sh!t different smell. They all have had good and bad in their history.

But let's face it, most terrorist acts are done by Sunnis.

Off topic about Shia Iraqis: Iran allows Assyrian and Armenian Christians to worship in 600 Churches across Iran and don't have a threat of being killed, unlike in Saudi Arabia where they are 0 functioning Churches in Saudi Arabia and hundreds of Filipino and Ethiopian Christians have been arrested for worshiping (Privately) in their little apartments.

Shia Iraqis don't try to Arabize us and they respect us more unlike the Sunnis who hate anyone that isn't their own or follows a different branch of their version of Sunni Islam. Wahhabi and Salafism are Sunni Extremist ideologies. Shias allow Christmas trees in Southern Iraq and virgin marry statues are allowed to be shown in public.. They don't get offended if you put a Cross on top of your church and they are Christians in Shia militias in Iraq.

Source for Christians in Iran: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianity_in_Iran

Quote
Today, there are at least 600 churches for 300,000 - 370,000 Christians in Iran.

Suddam Hussain was a SUNNI yes, but I supported him when he donated money to fund a Chaldean Catholic church and a Chaldean Center in Detroit.

Tariq Aziz was a blind man and served for the Sunni Baaths and he never called himself Assyrian, he betrayed his own people and did not care about the Assyrians in Iraq, he was just one of Saddam's brainwashed hoes.

Saddam Hussein actually like the Assyrians for some reason. Also, he didn't kill people in the name of Islam but in the name of his politics and image.

Likely because he was a nationalist. He mixed arabism with Iraq's more ancient Assyrian identity, saying he was like the rulers from back then.

Yeah, he was, in a way, a radical or extreme nationalist, sort of like Kim Jong Un and the likes. They kill people in the name of their nationalistic party or in their own name even. He had nothing to do with Islam, surprisingly for a violent, self-proclaimed Muslim himself.

Very sad that he was evil. He could've been the greatest president of Iraq, especially how he recognized us. He would have probably given us an autonomous land. Why did he have to be such a tyrannical warlord? Pity for him and for us. :(
