First 'official' battle by Assyrian army in Syria
« on: December 24, 2013, 05:42:00 PM »
After an invasion by Jabhat Al Nusra (Al Qaeda Force) against the Assyrian church of St.Malke in the village of gharduka, the Assyrian Army led an operation against Al Qaeda killing their fighters and remnants of them fleeing the village.

Here is a picture of 2 Assyrian soldiers inside the Church.

Even after the fall of Nineveh (612BC) The Assyrians lived under their own law, they had their own autonomy under the different names such as Athura, Adiabene and Asuristan. It lasted till the 7th century AD.

Sennacherib II(2), was an Assyrian Governor or 'king' of northern Asuristan in 372 AD.

Hello Fiona, I hope you and your family have a happy Christmas and I wish your husband luck.

I have a great uncle that lives in the UK, however, I don't communicate with him or Assyrians in general from the UK since their numbers are quite small in the UK.

Thank you for writing, and I pray for you and your family

The source is the Syriac Military Council's official facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/SYRIACMILITARYCOUNCIL

I do not know where the village is; I'd assume it is around Al-Hasakah.
